BIOGRAPHY

Raymond Martinez focuses his practice on employment and overtime litigation and serious workplace injury cases. He handles a wide variety of employment law and workplace injury issues including workplace injuries, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, discrimination, accommodations and disability, overtime and wage disputes, contracts and commercial law, deceptive trade practices, breach of warranty, fraud, negligence, and business disputes. Ray often advised employers and employees on human resource issues and risk management strategies. Mr. Martinez also handles cases involving claims of unfair competition or violations of non-compete agreements. 

Earlier in his career, he provided general and special counsel for numerous municipalities and government subdivisions. Prior to founding Martinez & Martinez Law Firm, PLLC, Mr. Martinez worked for Ford & Harrison, LLP (one of the largest labor and employment defense firms in the country), and he also served as an Assistant City Attorney in the Labor and Employment section of the City of Dallas’ Legal Department. Mr. Martinez currently represents federal employment unions in arbitrations, collective bargaining, unfair labor litigation and counseling. 

Our law firm handles a wide variety of employment law and labor issues including focusing on the representation of government employees, public and private sector employee organizations and their members. We represent numerous public sector employee organizations in labor relations, bargaining and negotiation matters, as well as individual members in internal investigative, administrative and disciplinary proceedings. We represent private sector employee organizations in labor relations and negotiations matters. Our law firm represents government employees on an individual basis at all levels of investigatory, administrative and disciplinary proceedings. In addition to our representation of individuals before local public agencies, such as civil service commissions, we represent government employees before many state and federal level boards and commissions. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of Texas. He is also admitted to the Texas Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Martinez has also been appointed as a labor and employment arbitrator to the Labor & Employment Arbitration Panels for Arizona, New Mexico and Texas for the American Arbitration Association. Ray is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Labor and Employment Section; the El Paso Bar Association and has been elected for Board of Directors of the El Paso Bar Association for 2010-2013. Mr. Martinez is also president of the West Texas Employment Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association and the Texas Employment Lawyers Association. Ray also served on the Advisory Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Dalas. Mr. Martinez is also appointed to the Unauthorized Practice of Law, Hispanic Issues and the Immigration and Naturalization Committees for the State Bar of Texas. He is also fluent in Spanish. 

Mr. Martinez lives in El Paso, Texas with his wife and three children.
